A preliminary agreement has been reached on ensuring 40 percent of the Azerspace-1 telecommunication satellite's resources, Azerkosmos told Trend on Saturday.

Azerkosmos takes part in international exhibitions, holds talks with teleport companies as well as works with local TV companies to provide them with the latest satellite technologies to reveal the opportunities for providing resources of Azerspace-1.

"The satellite's coverage area includes more than 50 countries in Central Asia, Europe and Africa, showing an interest in the Azerbaijani satellite program," the company said. "The project is commercial."

The satellite will enable millions of people to have access to information and communication services.

The satellite will be launched into a geostationary orbit 46 degrees east longitude, leased from the Malaysian company Measat Satellite Systems, owned by the Malaysian government. Azerspace's service area will include the countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus, Central Asia and North Africa.
