If Armenia does not make peace, it will face the military strength of Azerbaijan. In such case, the aggressor will understand how claims for alien lands may end, MP Elman Mammadov, member of the Board of "Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh Region of the Azerbaijan Republic" Public Union, said in an interview to the official website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

The intensive visits of the co-chairmen to the region are a positive case, said Mammadov. They are expected to pay another visit soon.

"In general, this can be regarded positively from the diplomatic point of view. However, along with the intensiveness of the negotiations and the frequent visits to the region, the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group should undertake serious steps with regards to aggressor-Armenia," he said.

Mammadov said the processes give ground to assert Azerbaijan's position at the negotiations has become much stronger. Therefore, Armenia tries to break this process.

He said the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh backs the policy pursued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"We believe that the problem will be solved fairly as a result of the decisive position of the Head of State," Mammadov said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.
Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
