Today, on September 15, great Azerbaijani composer Vasif Adigozalov has passed away. The composer has suffered from diabetes mellitus for many years, Trend reports referring ANS TV Channel.
The ceremony of bidding a farewell to the great composer will be held tomorrow (September 16). He will be buried in the Honorary Burial Alley
It should be mentioned that Vasif Adigozalov was follower of Kara Karayev`s school, and successor of Uzeyir Hajibayov`s creativity. The contribution the composer made to the musical art of Azerbaijan is great. He wrote 4 symphonies, 6 musical comedies, an opera devoted to the life of poetess Natavan, and many other compositions to cinema. Mr. Adigezalov was people artist of Azerbaijan, professor of the Baku Music Academy, the first Secretary of the Composers Union of Azerbaijan. He was the only composer of independent Azerbaijan who was rewarded with the orders Shohrat (Fame) and Istiglal (Independence) simultaneously. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev personally presented the order Istiglal to the composer this year.
