Tbilisi, Georgia / corr trend K.Ramazanova / The accession to power by the opposition in Georgia through the presidential elections scheduled for 5 January 2008, will solve all the problems of Azerbaijanis, who are residing in this country, Georgiy Khaindrava, one of the opposition leaders, and former Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution, said.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili chose 5 January as the date for pre-term presidential elections and public vote on the date for holding the parliamentary elections.
Khaindrava said that Azerbaijan is a particular country to Georgia. "Azerbaijanis are closer to us than anyone else and we will never forget that Azerbaijanis helped us in a grave period," Khaindrava said.
According to Khaindrava, as soon as the opposition comes to power in Georgia, relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia will become closer. "We will be able to solve the problems of Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia," Khaindrava said.
He said that Georgia attaches great importance to relations with neighboring countries in particular with Azerbaijan.
"The new Government's policy will be more correct and not built on falsifications," he said.
