Russia and   Azerbaijan for Legal Solution to Karabakh Conflict

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 July / corr Trend A.Aliyev / Russia and Azerbaijan are for the resolution of the Karabakh conflict on the basis of the territorial integrity of the country and are eager to expand the military and military technical cooperation. " Russia and Azerbaijan consider the forced change of internationally recognized border as unacceptable," reads the Declaration on friendship and strategic partnership signed by the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, Dmitriy Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev, as a result of talks in Baku.

"Stressing the importance of ensuring security in Europe and in the world, confirming the inadmissibility of the forced change of internationally recognized border, the two sides state on their readiness to strengthen cooperation in ensuring security in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region," the document said. Moscow and Baku stress the importance of rapid solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the 'basis of recognized norms and principles of the international law and first of all, observing the sovereignty, the territorial integrity and inviolability of the state border, as well as relevant resolutions of UN Security Council and OSCE resolutions.

The two countries stressed the significance attached to further efforts by the OSCE Minsk Group, including Russia, for assisting in the rapid resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and committed themselves to contribute in further voluntary and safe repatriation of refugees and internally displaced people as a result of the conflict.

The Declaration noted the intention of Russia and Azerbaijan to strengthen and expand the military and military-technical cooperation. The two sides agreed upon continuing 'comprehensive development of equal, mutually profitable and constructive bilateral relations of strategic character", the document said. Each of the sides "will not allow any activities by their institutions, organization, companies and other economic units in the territory of another side, which could damage sovereign rights and interests of another side."

Russia and Azerbaijan will "deepen and expand political dialogue at different levels on all layers of bilateral relations, international and regional issues of mutual interest".
