Azerbaijani Prosecutor Offices Launch Investigation into Case of Police Officer of Ganja City

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 July / Trend , corr. K. Zarbaliyeva/ The Prosecutor's Office of Ganja city of Azerbaijan has launched investigation into the case of deputy head of the Nizami district police department, the Prosecutor Office of Ganja said to Trend .

Several days ago resident of Ganja city of Azerbaijan Zakiya Gaziyeva held a press conference and stated that she was subject to torture by Suluz Mammadova, deputy head of the Police Department of Nasimi District of Ganja city and other police officers of the department.

She said that on 20 June she was invited to the investigation as a witness into the criminal case filed into the death of Nadejda Nazarli that took place recently in Ganja.

According to Gaziyeva, Mammadov made her to admit into committing the crime. She said that she was insulted and she was subject to torture by deputy head of the police department which led to miscarriage.

Gaziyeva made an appeal to the law enforcement agencies to investigate the facts of torture and to make the people involved in the torture criminally responsible.

The Prosecutor's Office of Ganja said that the appeal by Zakiya Gaziyeva to the Prosecutor's Office against torture by Sulduz Mammadov was being investigated Prosecutor General's Office.

Both parties will be interrogated during the investigation. If the evidence in the suit is proved, the police officers will be made criminally responsible.

The Prosecutor's Office also said that earlier a suit was filed against Gaziyeva into the falsification, production and sale of official documents, government awards, stamps, blanks and using false documents. As a result of the charges she had to give a written undertaking not to leave a place.

Employee of the press service of the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan Ehsan Zahidov said that if a citizen appeals the Interior Ministry against such facts, it will certainly be investigated.
