Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 July / Trend corr.D.Khatinoglu/ European Union's third statements regarding rights in Iran demonstrates sever infringements of rights in the country.

"From the human rights point of view, to live in Iran is a tragedy," Hadi Ghaemi, Iranian human rights activist who reside in the United States, told Trend .

On 27 July, 29 people were executed in Teheran. Earlier, on 24 July, the European Union made a written appeal to official Teheran with regard to sever infringement of rights in Iran for three times within a week. Execution of nine Iranians through stone throwing is characterized as 'ridiculous and shy punishment' in the statement. Teheran is demanded to stop such punishments.

Hadi Ghaemi, former member of the organization 'Human Rights Watching' and current member of the Coordination Council on Human Rights, said that the Iranian Government has no respect for international conventions, and does not permit most international conventions to function in Iran for three years. "The special reporter from the UN Assembly on Human Rights is necessary to send to Iran," Ghaemi said via telephone from New York.

In February2007, 'Human Rights Watching' demanded from the Iranian Justice Ministry to cancel stone throwing punishment. Iran responded that this type of punishment does not implement in the country. Despite of this statement, Jafar Kiyanli was thrown with stones in the Takistan region in Gazvin province in 2007. On 20 June, The Guardiannewspaper released the information about nine persons were sentenced to stone throwing in Iran.

Teheran Prosecutor Office told Trend that it was not informed about the sentence of nine persons to throw with stones. Despite we managed to connect with Teheran Prosecutor General's Office, no comment was made.

Rza Moini, the Head of the organization 'Reporters without bounders' Iranian Bureau, told rend News that  the organization has wrote an open letter to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, with request to send a special reporter  from the UN to Iran.  "About 20 publishing houses have been closed and 13 journalists have been sentenced to different imprisonments from 5 to 11 years, in Iran for half a year," Moini said via a telephone from Paris.

Iran, by joining different international conventions, made promises to stop stone throwing, to execute juveniles and to violate freedom of speech and conscience. According to Ghaemi, at present totally 145 juveniles are sentenced to death penalty and 138 in Iran. In June, 17 years aged juvenile was executed in the Sanandac region. Iran takes the second place, after China, due to death punishment.

In 2005, Iran forced activists from foreign organizations on human rights to leave the country. According to Moini, the fact that journalists are sentenced to sever punishment became an everyday occurrence. Iranian citizen of Azerbaijani origin Said Matinpur was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment, another Kurd origin Muhammadsadig Kebudvend - to eleven years of imprisonment, Hiva Butimar and Adnan Hasanpur were sentenced to death penalty.

"There is need a permanent control of the UN over rights in Iran. However, the Government will not provide conditions for it," Moini said.

Emin Muvahhidi, Iranian human rights activist acting in Turkey, considers that the possibility that the official Teheran will permit foreign reporters to function in the country equals to zero.

The situation in pressure on different ethnic groups in Iran is beyond all bearing. The number of arrested students in the Iranian Azerbaijan has increased, Muvahhidi said.

Recently, the students from the Tabriz Sahand Peyman University - Peyman Gulami, Ali Abdullahzase, Saccad Radmehr, Aydin Khojali, Daryush Hatami and Faraz Zehtabi were arrested. Furthermore, pressure was made over their families.
