Azerbaijan Parliament’s Commission Approves Amendments Limiting Labor Activities of Foreigners in Country

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 September / Trend , corr. I.Alizade / The Commission on Human Rights of Azerbaijan Parliament approved the amendments to the Labor Code limiting the employment of the foreign citizens in the country.

"After this, individual permission should be provided for labor activity of the foreign citizens and people who have not Azerbaijani citizenship," the Head of the Commission, Rabiyat Aslanova, said on 10 September during the session of the Commission.

During the session of the Commission, the amendments to the Labor Code were discussed and approved. According to the previous provisions of the Labor Code, the foreign citizens could exercise all labor rights in Azerbaijan in equality with the citizens of the country.   

"The employers can hire the foreign citizens and people not having Azerbaijan citizenship after individual permission is provided," mentioned in the amendments made to the Labor Code. 

Aslanova said that the amendments proposed to the Labor Code assume great importance because number of the foreign citizens who come to Azerbaijan to work rapidly increases.

The individual permission for the foreign citizens will be provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.

According to other amendment to the Labor Code, the labor activity of the Azerbaijani citizens who worked in foreign countries will be considered valid after submitting labor contract signed with the foreign employers and document confirming payment of the obligatory State insurance. 

The Commission recommended presenting the amendments to the discussions in the Parliament.
