Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 11/ Trend , I. Alizade/ Azerbaijan's governing New Azerbaijan Party proposes to bring up suggested changes to the Law on Political Parties for discussions in the spring session of the parliament. "The autumn session of the parliament is drawing to end. We will propose to include changes to the Law to the agenda of the spring session of the parliament," Siyavush Novruzov, deputy executive secretary of NAP and member of Security and Defense Committee of the Parliament, said to reporters. Law on Political Parties has been adopted in 1992. All political forces including government and opposition says it is important to make changes and supplements to the Law so that it will keep up pace with modern times. The autumn session of the parliament will end on Dec. 30. The spring session begins on Feb. 1 and end on May 31. Novruzov said the governing party will submit draft changes and supplements to the Law in the spring session of the parliament. "Besides NAP, several other parties have also submitted draft changes. The commission will include the matter to the agenda of the parliament after it is examined," Novruzov said. |
NAP was established by the chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Heydar Aliyev in 1992. The current President Ilham Aliyev is the chairman of the Party which has been ruling for already 15 years.
