Georgian Ombudsman Sozar Subari handed EU Special Representative for South Caucasus Peter Semneby copyright on all violations that occurred from April 9 to date with respect to the participants of demonstrations and actions against the authorities. Subari said after the 40-minute meeting with EU special representative for Caucasus Semneby in Tbilisi.
"We do not accept any moratorium on the facts of violations of human rights and they should all be investigated," Subari said. He stressed that no charges of violence against participants in protest action have been investigated so far.
"We have asked EU to help investigate these cases, particularly with regard to torture against prisoners and received a reply that Semneby has already appealed to the Georgian Foreign Ministry on this issue" he said.
Subari today protested against yesterday's actions by the police who seize cars from the leaders of opposition parties, ostensibly for violating the rules of traffic. "I'm not saying that opposition is right in all cases but when 20-30 people are deprived from cars, it looks like a targeted campaign," he said.
