Georgia, Tbilisi, November 16 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia /
Activization of the U.S. in the region is connected with the recent geopolitical changes - Russia's invasion in Georgia and "incomprehensible and secret" interests of Turkey, Georgian expert Gia Khukhashvili told Trend .
"On this backdrop, the U.S. is trying to keep its main political vector on geopolitical cooperation of Georgia-Azerbaijan," he said.
The expert believes that the activization of the U.S. policy, which results from frequent contacts of the representatives of the U.S. Department of State with the leadership of Georgia and Azerbaijan, is aimed at ensuring regional security and energy security. "I do not exclude the discussion of other specific problems of the region behind closed doors, but the whole direction is region-wide efforts of the United States," he said.
With regards to Georgia, Khukhashvili believes that it is important for the country to strengthen democracy, which will also be discussed during U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Michael Posner's tomorrow's visit to Georgia.
