Azerbaijani law-enforcement officers arrest 24 drug traffickers

The Azerbaijani National Security Ministry's officers arrested 24 people (22 Azerbaijani and Russian citizens) engaged in drug trafficking from Iran to Azerbaijan, and Russia in May. The officers seized in total of 254 kilograms of drugs from the arrested, the ministry told Trend.

The Azerbaijani National Security Ministry's officers arrested 24 people (22 Azerbaijani and Russian citizens) engaged in drug trafficking from Iran to Azerbaijan, and Russia in May. The officers seized in total of 254 kilograms of drugs from the arrested, the ministry told Trend.

Eleven criminal cases were failed into the case.  

The Ministry of National Security, Russian Federation's Service Controlling the Drug Turnover, Azerbaijan's State Border Service played special role in the successful operations. Smuggling of drugs on route Iran-Azerbaijan-Turkey-Russia was prevented as a result of the information exchange between the Ministry of National Security and Russian Federation's Service Controlling the Drug Turnover. Azerbaijanis - Myasnikov Zeynal Sergey, Hasanov Tajeddin Arif, Bagishov Mehman Sabir, unidentified citizens of Islamic Republic of Iran and others smuggled drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan.

It was found out that Zeynal Myasnikov, Tajeddin Hasanov, Mehman Bagishov and the citizens of Iran agreed to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan, then to Russia via Turkey. The citizens of Iran sent 102 kg 716 g hashish resin from Iran to Azerbaijan. The drugs were hidden in the cellar of "Avrasiya" company in Nizami district of Baku. The drugs were found by the employees of the Ministry of National Security.

Russian citizen Adilkhanov Radik Aliyevich engaged in smuggling drugs was detained in Moscow by Ministry of National Security and Russian Federation's Service Controlling the Drug Turnover, 126 g cocaine and 6 kg hashish was seized from him. As a result of the next operation carried out by the Ministry of National Security and Russian Federation's Service Controlling the Drug Turnover, Russian Turabov Rufat Alisaftar was detained, 7 kg 400 g opium was seized.

The conductor of Baku-Tumen train Valiyev Rovshan Rashid was also detained as a result of the operations carried out by the Ministry of National Security and Russian Federation's Service Controlling the Drug Turnover. 20 kg 528 g opium was seized from him. Azerbaijanis - Mammadov Allahverdi Maharram, Aliyev Afsar Garsalan, Huseynov Abdukheyir Musa, Huseynov Bahruz Khanoglan and Rahimov Majid Elbrus were detained in Yekaterinburg on Baku-Tumen train. 22 kg hashish was seized from them.
As a result of joint operations conducted by the Ministry of National Security and State Border Service, Azerbaijani citizen Ilgar Mammadov was detained. He and others purchased, stored and carried more than 36 kg hashish resin and 15 kg of opium.

The Ministry of National Security conducted several operations. Azerbaijani citizens - Khancanov Aghali, Bashirov Galasi and Sadigov Saleh were detained for drug transit from Iran to Russia via Azerbaijan and 702.2 g heroin was confiscated from them.
Another group smuggled drugs from Iran to Russia via Azerbaijan was also arrested.

Azerbaijani citizens Seyidov Elshan and Tariverdiyev Rizvan were detained during another operation and more than one kg of heroin, hashish and opium was confiscated from them.
During the next operation Azerbaijani citizens Maharramov Mubariz, Rahimov Zarkhan, Mammadov Mikayil, Imamaliyev Aflatun, Imamaliyev Sarvar and Imamaliyev Hikmet were detained for smuggling 32 kg 845 g hashish from Iran to Russia via Azerbaijan.
The criminal cases were launched on all of these facts. The law-enforcement agencies are continuing operational searches other members of the drug-smuggling groups.

"Drug trafficking is a serious threat to the national interests of Azerbaijan and all forces should mobilized to provide educational work among the population to prevent this threat. The drugs harm human's health, national gene fund, make people addicted and isolated from the society and served as a financial source of terrorism. Everyone, individuals, families, educational centers, staffs, community and government should struggle against the drugs. Only in this case, those crimes can be prevented and the national interests will be protected more effectively. The Ministry of National Security will strongly struggle against such antisocial actions and continue adequate measures".
