Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Member of the German Bundestag Michael Link, the press center of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
During the meeting, German MP expressed satisfaction with the high level of relations between the countries, and noted that there are good opportunities to develop relations in various spheres, especially in non-oil sector. Noting that the South Caucasian region assumes a particular interest to the European area, Link got interested in the processes occurring in the region.
Touching upon the topic of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov mentioned the importance of resolving the conflict based on international norms and principles, only within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The Minister presented to German MP's attention the European Parliament's resolution on "The EU requirement on strategy for the South Caucasus", which definitely supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Remembering the resolution of the Bundestag of Germany dated May 14, 2009 regarding the South Caucasus, Link said that his country recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and supports the solution of the conflict based on the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state.
Then the sides discussed a number of other bilateral issues of mutual interest.
