Azerbaijan, Baku, August 12 / Trend T. Hajiyev /
Azerbaijani opposition behaves strangely. It says one thing today, tomorrow it refutes what it has said before. It takes a decision today and the next day it denies it, " the Green Party chairman Mais Gulaliyev told Trend.
"We are negotiating with the opposition parties for joint participation in the parliamentary elections over six months. But we have not reached any agreement yet. We do not trust opposition parties. They can change their opinion any moment. They can deny the decisions they have taken. So we try not to alert the public about decisions before they are finally adopted, " he said.
The parliamentary elections will be held Nov. 7, 2010. Previous legislative elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
"So far we have been negotiating with Azadliq bloc and Umid party. There were ideas to create a separate unit with Umid party. At the moment we are negotiating with the parties, included in Azadliq bloc. But as a final decision has not been made, it is impossible to say anaything. They do not know whether they participate in the elections as a bloc or independently, " he said.
The Azerbaijani Green Party was established in December 2006. It was not registered in the Ministry of Justice. The party has an observer status in the European Green Party.
He said that the opposition parties, represented in the parliament, have an idea to create the bloc.
"At the moment we are negotiating with these parties. But there are no results," the party chairman said.
