World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue is underway

The World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue opened in Baku continues its agenda with the next session focus, "The role of women in intercultural dialogue".

The First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva and Director of the UNESCO Division of Cultural Policies and Intercultural Dialogue Katerina Stenou will chair the session.

The session will include a report by Pramila Patten, member of the UN Committee, on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) .

Main attendees include, among others, the Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova, Deputy Chairman of Russian Federal Assembly Federation Council Svetlana Orlova, Mayor of 7th district of Paris Rachida Dati, Director of the U.S. Center for Intercultural Dialogue Wendy Leeds-Hurwitz and Chair of the Mexico Node of the Millennium Project of the World Federation of UN Associations Concepcion Olavarrieta .

The World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue opened in Baku on April 7. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony. The forum is dedicated to intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity for the achievement of peace and development.

The forum's opening session is entitled "Towards the world without borders". Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and adviser to the UN Alliance of Civilizations Jean-Christophe Bas headed the session.
