Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on Friday to write off the debts of the Azerbaijani population for water supply and sewerage services, the official website of the Azerbaijani President reported.
Upon the order, the debts of the population to Azersu JSC in amount of 294.2 million manat as of Feb. 1, 2011 will be written off.
Azersu JSC was instructed to, within 10 days, send each consumer a notification of the amount of written-off debt and the debt accumulated since Feb. 1, 2011; take steps to ensure all payments for water supply and sewerage services and to prevent accumulation of new debts.
The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to take appropriate measures to write off accounts payable in an amount equal to the debt written off by Azersu; to resolve other issues arising from the order.
