Ukraine, Turkmenistan hold talks

A Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Viktor Maiko, which arrived in the Ashgabat on a working visit, held talks at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry on Aug.26, the Turkmen embassy in Azerbaijan reported.

The negations focused on the main aspects of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's forthcoming official visit to Turkmenistan, as well as issues of the inter-state cooperation in strategic sectors such as industry, construction and transport. The sides paid a particular attention to the development of the Turkmen-Ukrainian cultural, educational and scientific cooperation.

The sides said Turkmenistan and Ukraine seek to further form their traditionally friendly relations based on an open and mutually beneficial cooperation, respect and equality . The sides named a number of major joint projects implemented by the Turkmen and Ukrainian experts as example to this.

The frank and friendly dialogue established between Presidents Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov and Viktor Yanukovych actively promotes the bilateral ties, they stated.

The talks underscored the importance of the forthcoming bilateral talks at the highest level. The sides agreed that the talks will undoubtedly become an important milestone in the history of the Turkmen-Ukrainian relations, giving new impetus to the effective interaction on a wide range of the bilateral relations.

The sides also called for the expansion of regular contacts and consultations at the level of foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Ukraine with a view t o continue the dialogue established between the two friendly countries .
