If the withdrawal of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party from the radical opposition has a more serious effect on other opposition parties, then, it may have a positive effect on forming normal and civilized relations between political parties, between the authorities and opposition, atmosphere of a dialogue in Azerbaijan, said Ali Ahmadov, the Vice-Chairman, Executive Secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan party (YAP), Trend reports.
He noted that the ruling party had stated for a long time that some opposition parties needed changes. The Azerbaijani society has recently been subjected to great changes. Our country has become a more democratic, and it is quite normal that social relations should be built more civilly. The serious necessity in changing the Azerbaijani opposition is clearly felt amid all the above-mentioned, said Mr. Ahmadov.
He noted that unfortunately forces and groupings of the opposition camp had shown that they were not ready to meet with the present requirements. They have not thought about renewal. They even give a hostile reception to any opinions concerning this issue and keep on demonstrating an odd position. Mr. Ahmadov noted that the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, which had previously differed with its radicalism, now realized that its radical position had been a wrong one, and the Party had abandoned radicalism and announced on its turning to the position of constructive opposition. On the whole, we positively assess such a statement and changing their position that lead to this statement. We consider that this step creates a serious and firm basis to establish civilized, normal, and democratic relations among political parties and forces in Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, the opposition camp gave a hostile reception to these statements, the rejection of the Party from radical positions and its turning to the position of co
nstructive opposition, an thus these parties showed once more that they did want to change, said Mr. Ahmadov.
According to him, the other opposition forces, which are still radical will ever abandon the position they currently defend and realize that it is a false like it was done by the Democratic Party.
Mr. Ahmadov added that the opposition camp was currently occupied with a serious analysis. As a result of this analysis, a serious centrifugal process was observed due to the position which was advocated by leaders of the opposition parties and could not be changed by them. If the Democratic Party's position has an influence on the other opposition parties more seriously, that will certainly have its effect on the formation of normal, civilized relations between political parties, between the authorities and opposition, atmosphere of a dialogue in Azerbaijan. We have always been adherents of such relations, said Mr. Ahmadov.
