Trend R.Ergun / A German Berti Fogts, chief trainer of the Azerbaijani National football team, was satisfied with performances of Inter and Neftchi clubs in the European Cups. "I watched guest matches of the Azerbaijani clubs in the European Cups. Inter created good impression and Neftchi could attract attention of Europe. Unfortunately, Khazar-Lankaran and Olimpic could not pass a stage in the UEFA Cup," Fogts told Trend on 8 August.
Fogts, who left for Austria and Switzerland to watch matches of the European Championship, has not been in Azerbaijan for more than two months. Resting in Germany, he watched guest matches of the Azerbaijani clubs in the European Cups.
The chief trainer said that he believed in successful performance of the Azerbaijani National team at a match with the Icelandic National team, which would take place on 20 August. "Our team should show more impressive game at the match with Iceland because the Azerbaijani National team has held several matches under my leadership and footballers learnt something," Fogts said.
Azerbaijan will meet with the Wales National team within the framework of qualifying round of the World Championship.
The German specialist was appointed the chief trainer of the Azerbaijani National football team in April 2008.
