The World Bank (WB) will allocate $8 million to the Azerbaijani government to improve human resource potential through public investment.
The project costs $10 million and $2 million of this amount will be financed by the Azerbaijani government, Education Minister, Misir Mardanov, told journalists.
The minister said the project covers 2010-2013 and aims to improve the quality of performance and efficiency in the preparation of investment projects in priority sectors.
An agreement on the financing was signed by the Education Minister, Misir Mardanov and WB Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Assad Alem.
The project to improve human resource potential would be implemented under the guidance of the Deputy Prime Minister, Abid Sharifov. The main contractor of the project will be the Azerbaijani Education Ministry.
Azerbaijan cooperates with the World Bank since 1992. So far, the World Bank has financed 42 projects in the country, totaling $2.16 billion.
