A trial has been launched on members of the criminal gang, accused of smuggling weapons from Iran to Azerbaijan.
The Serious Crime Court is considering a criminal case of citizens Tahir Asadullayev, Musa Hajiyev, Anar Heydarov, Asif Piralieva, Rashad Aslanov, Rashad Shukurov, Araz Shukurov, Vugar Isaev, and Elnur Shukurov. Giving evidence at the trial, some defendants have pleaded guilty to the charge.
These persons are accused under the Articles 206.3.2 (smuggling by a group of persons by prior agreement), 228.1, 228.2.1 and 228.2.2 (illegal purchase, transfer, sale, possession, transportation or carrying of firearms, component parts, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices, a group of persons by prior agreement) of the Criminal Code.
The members of the criminal gang were arrested in March this year as a result of operational search activities by the National Security Ministry. Two "TT" and "Makarov" pistols and their cartridge clips were found and seized on them.
