Sumgayit and nearby villages are working double-time to decrease waste in the region.
A total of 22 special purpose vehicles are involved, the city's administration told Trend today. There are 1,100 household waste stations in the city, and 5,000 containers.
A total of 1,500 containers earlier went out of order, but have been repaired and are now in working condition.
A total of 2,780 contracts were signed to transport waste in 2009; 1,710 were concluded with individuals and 1,080 with enterprises. Compared to the same period in 2008, the number of contracts increased by 30 percent.
