Azerbaijani gymnast wins bronze in Spain

The Grand Prix competition in rhythmic gymnastics in Marbella (Spain) completed. Azerbaijani athletes Aliya Garayeva and Anna Gurbanova also attended the event.

Separate finals were held on the last day of the competition. Garayeva received 27.250 points in the exercise with a ribbon and took third place. Two Russian athletes Eugenia Kanaeva and Daria Kondakova took the first two places, the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation reported.

Garayeva took the 7th place in the finals with rope (26.375) and hoop (25.925). Gurbanova received 26.45 points in the exercise with a ball in the final and ranked the 5th.

"A week ago, my teammate Gurbanova was the third in France, but this time was my turn to win another bronze medal," Garayeva said. "The competitions in Minsk May 21-23 and Innsbruck June 11-13 are before us, so we cannot relax in any case."

Medals in all-round were played out on the first day of Grand Prix. Garayeva with the general result of 107,375 won the seventh place and Gurbanova with 104,725 points was the 13th among 27 participants. Olympic champion Yevgeny Kanaeva won the gold medal.

The Azerbaijani athletes will perform at the international festival of rhythmic gymnastics "Alina-2010" in Moscow May 19.
