Religion is likely to be taught in secondary schools of Azerbaijan in future, Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade met with BSU students studying journalism.

"We all have freedom of conscience. Sooner or later this issue will be solved. History of religion, its philosophy will be taught in secondary schools," Pashazade said.

It does not mean that pupils getting religious education will be mullahs in future, he said.

Baku Islamic University got a license, he said.

"Everybody who has received education here will be awarded with diplomas. This diploma will be issued by the State. These people will be provided with jobs," he said.

Besides religious science, students of the Baku Islamic University study social sciences, deputy chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Haji Sabir Hasanli said.

"They do not learn to be mullahs, but to be teachers. If religion is allowed to be taught in secondary schools as the experiment, we have teachers and we are ready for it," Haji Sabir said.
