Azerbaijan, Baku, May 18 / Trend A.Gasimova /
Editor of an illustrated weekly of ITAR-TASS news agency "Echo Planeti" Elmar Huseynov and deputy editor in chief Gennady Charodeev met with the staff of the Azerbaijani International News Agency (AMI) Trend today.
They meeting discussed issues of development of the Azerbaijani journalism, dialogue between the Russian and Azerbaijani journalists and improvement of professionalism in the preparation of materials.
Huseynov said one can study journalism only at work. Journalism is craft, which must be developed in the practical work," he said. "Now it's time of the specialized journalism and we need to keep pace with the times.
Huseynov also noted Trend's role, saying that the company very successfully fills its niche. "We look to Trend site to know about Azerbaijan and consider it as a professional and strong agency," Huseynov said.
Charodeev also shared his impressions and experiences with AMI Trend members. "Foreign reader usually learns about Azerbaijan via the news about the Nagorno-Karabakh, or the officials' quotas taken out of context. There is no objective picture," he said. "During a visit to Azerbaijan's regions, I observed the development of infrastructure, opening of new production facilities, which provide people with jobs and well-preserved historical and cultural monuments. We have a responsible task to convey unbiased information about Azerbaijan to the Russian reader."
Charodeev said the level of hotels and roads in Azerbaijan almost European. Historical monuments and churches are kept in excellent condition and it would be interesting to tourists, he added "So if we objectively describe Azerbaijan and broaden the base on it, it will help us to deploy the ratio of the two peoples' relations to each other for several degrees," Charodeev said.
