Trend International News Agency conducted an open lesson on ecology for pupils of secondary school No 43 in Ganja within the project on environmental education.
T-shirts and caps promoting the need to protect the environment were given to children within the project funded by the State Media Support Fund under the Azerbaijani President.
It is very important to carry out activities for environmental protection among pupils. Enhancing of environmental education of schoolchildren will cleanse our nature in future, school director Khazangul Huseynova said.
After pupils performed the national anthem, AMI Trend deputy director, Project Coordinator Emil Huseynli said that the project is implemented as a part of the Year of Ecology in Azerbaijan and the work on environmental education is carried out among schoolchildren.
"The purpose of the first part of the project is environmental education of schoolchildren. It is necessary to form a need for environmental protection in the minds of children. Every citizen of Azerbaijan must be aware of responsibility to protect the environment and act in this direction," Huseynli said.
"Landslides have recently occurred in the settlement Hajikand. Why did they occur? Earlier, there were impenetrable forests. Landslides occur because people are cutting trees. The world community did not take actions to prevent global warming, so floods and other natural disasters occur now. Therefore, children must think about the environment", Huseynli said.
He thanked the State Media Support Fund under the Azerbaijani President and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for the support.
The more attention we pay to ecology, the more nature will favor the people, head of the regional department No 10 of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Mirhalid Aliyev said at the event.
"As it is known, this year is the Year of Ecology. The ministry conducts a number of events. AMI Trend's holding of such an event on environmental education will contribute to the formation of a new children's views on the environment," Aliyev said.
He said that a plant for waste processing will be built in Ganja soon.
"Environmental events are held in Ganja. Landscaping is carried out. Your task is to protect these trees", Aliyev said.
Due to concern of the state, the number of protected areas, nature reserves increases in the country, chief consultant of the regional office No 10 of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Alikram Gurbanov said at an open lesson.
"The essay-writing competition "Let everyone become the defender of nature!" will be held in the nearest future in the secondary schools of Ganja.
Winners will be awarded. Indeed, environmental education among pupils will make a great contribution to this," Gurbanov said.
Ganja is located 365 kilometers from Baku.
