The book by Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva "A great man whom the world has lost" about Mustafa Kemal Ataturk has been presented. The presentation, held at the University of Khazar, was attended by MPs, as well as representatives of the Turkish embassy, representatives of Northern Cyprus in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan-Turkish International Society of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (TUSİAB), the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency and various NGOs.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the founder of the University of Khazar, Hamlet Isakhanli. According to him, November 10 is a day of memory of Ataturk. At Pashayeva's initiative, the University hosted not only presentation of the book, but also Memorial Day of Mustafa Kemal.
Pashayeva said about the reasons that prompted her to write the book. "We love our heroes, but often do not know a lot about them. In Azerbaijan, there are many books available for the intelligentsia, but there are not books widely accessible to all people. The main purpose of writing this book to provide citizens with information about Ataturk in simple, understandable language," she added.
Then Pashayeva spoke about Ataturk's merits to the Turkic world and all mankind. According to her, Ataturk was able to keep Turkey at the time of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and turn it into one of the most powerful countries in the world. "Subsequently, the leaders of the liberation movements of India and Pakistan have stated that they were inspired by Ataturk. He laid the foundation of the tradition of independence in the East," she said.
Pashayev said, and the rights which Ataturk gave women. "With the creation in 1918 of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic of the women were given voting rights. However, after the fall of ADRs in 1920 did not become the world of independent Turkic states. Ataturk restored the tradition of these" - she added.

According to Pashayeva, the Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev highly appreciated the achievements of Ataturk.
According to Pashayeva, Ataturk's treatment with the Turkish youth was true yesterday, is true today and will be true tomorrow. People's poet Zalimkhan Yaqub spoke about Ataturk's merits before the Turkic world. According to him, many great personalities of the world considered Ataturk much grander than themselves.
Representatives of the Turkish embassy and other guests who spoke at the event said they are proud that Ataturk is remembered today in Azerbaijan. They thanked Pashayevs for her initiative.
The book "A great man whom the world has lost" is Ganira Pashayeva's sixth meeting with readers. The book is based on a series of articles about Ataturk by the MP, published at different times in various media outlets. It is published with the support of TUSİAB.
