BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 26. The number of foreign tourists visiting Azerbaijan from January through November 2022 amounted to about 1.5 million people, which is 2.11 times, or 766,472 more than in the same period in 2021, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan told Trend.
According to the agency, in the reporting period of 2022, the number of tourists amounted to 1,458,786 (692,314 in 2021).
"The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan from South-East Asian countries increased more than 14 times, from 7,047 to 105,808. From the Middle East, an increase of 6.3 times was observed, from 28,782 to 210,919 people. In addition, there was a four-fold increase in tourists from Central Asia - from 13,182 to 66,316 people, and more than twice that from the countries of North-East Asia and Africa. There is an almost twofold increase in tourists from Western Europe," the agency said.
It was also noted that the number of tourists from Russia increased by 77 percent, from 228,635 to 404,095 people, by 60 percent from Türkiye - from 177,541 to 283,493 people, by 41 percent from Iran - from 111,848 to 157,892 people; and by 30 percent from Georgia - from 55,960 to 72,670 people.
