Azerbaijan tallies volume of trade turnover with CIS countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 26. Azerbaijan's trade turnover with CIS countries from January through June 2024 exceeded $3 billion, and its share in the total foreign trade turnover amounted to 14.23 percent, Trend reports.

The trade turnover of Azerbaijan with CIS countries decreased by 6.14 percent or $202.7 million year-on-year in the reporting period of 2024.

However, in the same period last year, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with CIS countries amounted to $3.3 billion.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through June 2024 decreased by 16.81 percent or $4.3 billion compared to the same period of 2023 (from $26.1 billion to $21.7 billion).

In the structure of foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $12.9 billion, down $5 billion or 28.2 percent from the same period last year. The share of exports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 59.27 percent against 68.67 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports in the reporting period increased on an annualized basis by $668.7 million, or 8.16 percent - from $8.1 billion to about $8.8 billion. The share of imports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 40.73 percent against 31.33 percent a year earlier.

To note, the foreign trade balance, while remaining positive during the reporting period, declined year-on-year by more than $5.7 billion or 58.71 percent to $4 billion compared to $9.7 billion in the 2023 reporting period.
