Azerbaijan tallies volume of trade turnover with CIS countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Azerbaijan's trade turnover with CIS countries from January through August 2024 exceeded $4.20 billion, and its share in the total foreign trade turnover amounted to 13.58 percent, Trend reports.

The trade turnover of Azerbaijan with CIS countries decreased by 1.22 percent or $52.1 million, year-on-year in the reporting period of 2024.

However, in the same period last year, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with CIS countries was $ 4.26 billion.

Furthermore, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through August 2024 decreased by 12.7 percent or $4.50 billion, compared to the same period of 2023 (from $35.5 billion to $30.9 billion).

In the structure of foreign trade turnover, exports accounted for $18.2 billion, down $6.12 billion or 25.14 percent from the same period last year. The share of exports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 58.82 percent against 68.59 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports in the reporting period increased on an annualized basis by $1.61 million, or 14.47 percent - from $11.1 billion to about $12.7 billion. The share of imports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 41.18 percent against 31.41 percent a year earlier.

To note, the foreign trade balance, while remaining positive during the reporting period, declined year-on-year by more than $7.73 billion or 58.59 percent, to $5.46 billion compared to $13.2 billion in the 2023 reporting period.
