Georgia, Tbilisi, 1 July / corr. Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / The 'Georgian Railway' Limited Company announced an international tender on overhaul of 1,600 gondola carriages, covered carriages and cement trucks with extension of their service term. A tender is held on three lots including capital repairs of 974 eight wheel gondola carriages, 578 covered carriages and 108 cement trucks, the company said.
The deadline of the fulfillment of the first two lots is 31 December 2009, on the third lot within four months from the day of the registration of the contract. Applicants should present tender bids and qualification data until 18 July 2008.
In accordance with the terms of tender, a company-applicant should be included in the list of enterprises, which have a right to repair wagons with the extension of the service term. A winner should present a letter of commitment from bank to realize a contract at the rate of 5% of its cost.
The operational length of the Georgian railway is 1,324km, including 1,246km or 94.1% electrified railway. This system includes 45 tunnels, 1,714 bridges, railway and ferry passage with Russia and Ukraine.
