Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 July / Trend corr I.Khalilova/ "Azerbaijan does not need economic aid," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in Baku at the 3rd meeting of heads of Azerbaijani diplomatic services abroad.

"Economic independence enables to conduct an independent policy. Should we economically depend on someone, we would not be able to pursue independent policy," said President.

"For instance, currently Azerbaijan cooperates with the European Union and continues its integration policy, without pending anything from the organization. Though new EU members receive billions of dollars from the organization, Azerbaijan does not need them," said Aliyev.

"This enables us to pursue independent policy in all directions, both domestic and foreign policy and energy diplomacy. Probably, Azerbaijan is an only country pursuing completely independent foreign policy," the President said.

"It is the fourth year Azerbaijan has been retaining the most accelerated economic development. There is no second country which economy rose 96% and poverty level descended from 49% to 16% within 3 years," said Aliyev.

"Azerbaijan has also introduced the most transparent mechanism in oil revenues management, which was adopted by UN," he said.
