Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 June / Trend / From January to June 2008, Azerbaijani transport means carried 37,344,900 tons of cargo, which is 3.9 times more than in the same period of 2007, State Customs Committee reported. Export during this period made up 32,553,100 tons and import 4,791,800 tons.
In this period, a total of 306,100 tons of cargo was shipped, 8,036,600 tons was transported by railway, 332,900 by automobiles, 2,000 tons by airways, over 23,871,800 tons by pipelines.
A total of 3,336,000 tons of cargo was transported via the territory of Azerbaijan in January to June, which is almost 130% more than in the same period of last year.
Cargo transportation to Italy via the territory of Azerbaijan exceeded 1,118,300 tons, to Switzerland -994,800 tons, to Georgia - 517,800 tons, to Tajikistan - 212,000 tons, to Turkey - 128,600 tons, to Iran - 138,100 tons, to Russia - 91,000 tons, to Kazakhstan - 22,200 tons, to Turkmenistan - 97,600 tons.
