Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Plans to Commission Main Section of new Concrete Road in North Direction by late 2008

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 July / Trend / The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry plans to complete construction work at 134 kilometer section of a new concrete road of Baku - the Russian border by the end of 2008, Azeryolservis Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) (road construction) of the Ministry said on 28 July. At present construction work has been completed at 16-35km and 45-65km.

"Road section to 134km is planned to be completed in 2008 and the construction of the whole road will be completed in 2009," the OJSC said.

Some sections of the road will be constructed through loans. Some 6-16km of the road will be constructed through the loan of the Czech Eximbank and 28- 45 km through the loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The road is with the length of 198km.

The primary cost of the project is 4,400mln, whilst a decision on concrete road construction doubled this sum to $800mln. Akkord construction company builds this road.

A total of four concrete plants with the production capacity of 120 cu m of concrete an hour were established at the whole length of the section for the construction of this road.
