Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.29 / Trend corr N. Ismayilova / The Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes plans to perfect the tax legislation and hold electronic auctions to improve the collection of taxes, head of the strategic research department of the tax policy and strategic research office of the ministry Vusal Shikhaliyev said on Jan.29.
The auctions include the sale of properties confiscated from taxpayers who are unwilling to pay off tax debts.
"Auctions through Internet will enable the ministry to increase the number of participants and make the participation in the auctions easier," Shikhaliyev said.
According to Shikhaliyev, Azerbaijan follows the experience which is used in many EU countries.
The work on electronic auctions will commence in 2009 and be followed by the changes made in the tax legislation.
In accordance with the conception on perfection of strategic directions of the tax legislation, this change will speed up the rise of effectiveness of fiscal bodies.
