Global crisis inflicted minimal damage to Georgia, Mahmoud Ahmed, director of Middle East and Central Asia department of the International Monetary Fund, said on Feb.6 at the conference.
" Georgia has a good start position against the background of economic crisis. Fiscal stimulus is obviously observed. It deals with the funds provided by donors," Mahmoud Ahmed.
The IMF representative thoroughly discussed reasons causing global crisis. He noted that the crisis affected Georgia minimally.
No economic growth will be in the nearest future in the world, he said.
Economic crisis certainly affected Georgia, Lado Papava, expert on economy, said. For instance, if earlier Georgia could get loan under low percent in the European market, now it is impossible. Papava hopes that financial crisis will not affect the country greatly. "Financial aid provided by donors will help us," he said.
Georgian and foreign experts, businessmen attended the conference.
