Coefficient of dollarization in Georgian banks increases

According to the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), the coefficient of dollarization of the Georgian commercial banks increased. As of April 1, the coefficient of dollarization of deposits was 75.3 percent.

"The share of USD in the funds placed on deposit was 75.1 percent, share of Euro - 24.4 percent," said the NBG.

According to the data provided by NBG, the share of the deposits placed in foreign currency, rose again to 15.3 percent, while deposits in national currency decreased 40.5 percent.

"The weighted average annual interest rate of deposits is 9.7 percent, including deposits in local currency - 11.3 percent and 9.1 percent - on deposits in foreign currency," the bank said.
