GDP in Azerbaijan ups 3 percent

In January-July 2009, Azerbaijani GDP increased 2.7 percent compared to 2008, the State Statistics Committee said. In current prices GDP indicator made up 17.34 billion manat.

GDP per capita increased 1.3 percent by hitting 1968.7 manat ($2448.7).

Roughly 7.2 percent of extra cost was created owing to net taxes from production and import.

General production volume in all economic sectors increased 2 percent, amounting to 63.3 percent of the GDP. Industry composed 48.2 percent, or 8.4 billion manat. The services sector increased 29.5 percent compared to similar period of 2008.

In January-July of 2009, agriculture, hunting and forestry provided 1.08 million manat, or 6.6 percent of the GDP; construction - 1.53 billion manat (0 percent); transport - 1.16 manat (1.6 percent); communication and post service - 396.3 million manat (12.7 percent); wholesale and retail trade, automobile field, domestic products and repairing personal-use items - 1.34 billion manat (8.4 percent); restaurants and hotels - 197.2 million manat (15.8 percent); and social and other services - 2.02 billion manat (3.6 percent).

On Aug. 17, the official exchange rate is 0.804 manat to $1.
