New fertilizer plant to be built in Azerbaijan

A new plant on fertilizers will be built in Azerbaijan, head of Aqrolizinq State OJSC Ali Bayramov said on October 6.

"A new plant will be constructed owing to state funds and partially for funds drawn from investors," Bayramov said.

He said that presently the Azerbaijani ministry of economic development negotiates with investors to finance construction of the plant. Results of the talks will be announced soon.

Bayramov said that potash nitrate will be produced at the plant. Potash nitrate was not produced before.

Plants producing fertilizers operated in Sumgait and Ganja in Soviet time. They suspended their activity that period.

Head of Aqrolizinq stressed that there is the only plant in Transcaucasia operating in Georgia now. It produces small volume of fertilizers.

"Construction of a large plant producing fertilizers in Azerbaijan will meet not only domestic demand for this production but also its export," Bayramov said.

Aqrolizinq has its offices in 55 Azerbaijani regions. OJSC has launched its activity since 2005 by putting 8,817 units of agricultural technique, including 745 grain picker combines, 2,250 tractors, 132 excavators and 5,690 different agricultural technique.
