Chairman of the Turkmen Central Bank Guvanch Geoklenov will take part in the next forty-third annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to be held 2-5 May 2010 in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
Geoklenov is ADB Governor from Turkmenistan. The ADB's activity of this kind is held in Central Asia and Caucasus for the first time.
ADB is one of the largest institutions for long-term lending to development projects in Asia and the countries of the Pacific Ocean. The Bank was founded in 1965. It is headquartered in Manila (Philippines).
The main objective of the ADB is to promote economic and social progress in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.
ADB is promoting the project on transportation of Turkmen gas to Pakistan and India via Afghanistan. The Bank has financed a feasibility study on this project.
Transport and communications are priorities of the cooperation between ADB and Turkmenistan.
