In January-March, Azerbaijan imported 291,300 tons of cement and cement clinker, which is 4.6 percent lower than the same period of 2009, State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reported.
Cement and cement clinker was imported in amount of $15 million, which is 33.7 percent less than the figure of last year.
During the report period, cement clinker was imported in volume of 128,300 tons, 1.6 percent more than the figure in the same period of 2009. Clinker was imported in amount of $6.44 million, which is 49.4 percent more than the figure of last year.
In January-March of this year, the country imported 163,000 tons of cement, which is 9 percent less than in January-March 2009. The cement during the period was imported worth about $8.5 million, which is 23.9 percent more than last year.
In January-April, Azerbaijan produced 340,400 tons of cement, which is lower by 1.9 percent compared to the same period of 2009.
