Draft agreement on free trade zone to be on focus at Yalta meeting of CIS Economic Council

April 15, Yalta (Ukraine) will host the 49th meeting of the CIS Economic Council, the CIS Executive Committee website reported.

The agenda includes 15 issues covering a variety of spheres of economic cooperation between CIS states.

The meeting will pay attention to a question of a draft agreement on free trade zone. This document was developed by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and submitted to the CIS Executive Committee in late 2008.

After the approval by the Economic Council, the draft agreement on free trade will be submitted to the next meeting of the CIS Council of Government Heads.

In addition, the Yalta meeting of the Economic Council will discuss a preliminary draft of an interstate program of innovation cooperation of CIS member states, discuss the preparations for the Interstate exhibition devoted to the 20th anniversary of CIS, topical issues of cooperation in transport, exchange of scientific and technical information, food security, social and other issues.

Members of the CIS Economic Council will also attend the International Investment Forum "Yalta business meeting", organized by the Finance and Banking Council of CIS with the support of the CIS Executive Committee, the Ukrainian government and banking group VTB. The forum will last from 14 to 17 April in Yalta.
