AZPROMO, HEPO sign memorandum

A memorandum on mutual cooperation was signed today by the Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the Hellenic Foreign Trade Board (HEPO) within the Azerbaijani-Greek Business Forum in Baku.

AZPROMO President Adil Mammadov signed the memorandum from the Azerbaijani side, while from the Greek side was represented by HEPO head Alexandros Cholevas.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Greek President Karolos Papoulias addressed the forum.

The event was attended by about 300 people. Some 200 are businessmen working in the agriculture and food industry, health and pharmaceutics, energy, ICT, finance, logistics, construction and other spheres.

The volume of foreign trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $267.1 million in 2010. About $255.1 million account for export operations, while $12.08 million account for import.

AZPROMO was established in 2003. It is supervised by its Board of Trustees, comprising government, private sector and international community representatives.

The foundation, originally tasked with attracting foreign direct investments, was empowered with a mandate to promote local exports in 2005.

HEPO is officially responsible for Greece's export policy.
