Surplus of Azerbaijan's first quarter foreign trade turnover exceeds $3.5 billion

The State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan has reported the results of Azerbaijan's foreign trade operations with 116 countries of the world in January-March 2011, the SCC said on Saturday.

The country's trade turnover made up $7.336 billion, up 32.15 percent from the respective period of last year.

The surplus of the foreign trade turnover was $3.553 billion.

Over the period, foreign trade operations involved 2,155 legal entities and 1,302 physical persons (a total of 3,457).

In the first 3 months of the year, the value of export operations was $5.445 billion, an increase of 23.97 percent against the same period of 2010.

The shares of state sector, private sector, and physical persons in the export were $5.198 billion (up 95.48 percent), $0.23 billion (up 4.22 percent), and $16.307 million (up 0.23 percent), correspondingly.

In January-March, the value of import operations was $1.892 billion, an increase of 63.1 percent against the same period of 2010.

The shares of state sector, private sector, and physical persons in the import were $0.706 billion (up 37.3 percent), $1.094 billion (up 57.83 percent), and $92.187 million (up 4.87 percent), correspondingly.

Over the first 3 months, Azerbaijan exported 1,106 items of goods and imported 4,337 items of goods
