The number of tourists visiting Georgia increased by 45 percent. According to the National Tourism Agency, 1,444,299 tourists visited Georgia in January-July 2011, or 45 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
About 481,501 tourists (33.3 percent of the total number of tourists) visited Georgia from European countries (except CIS countries) within seven months of 2011 or 39 percent more compared to last year.
About 897,616 tourists (62.1 percent) arrived in Georgia from the CIS countries, or 46 percent more than last year.
About 15,360 tourists (1.1 percent) arrived in Georgia from the U.S, or 5 percent more than last year.
About 42,917 tourists (3 percent) visited Georgia from Asia, or 85 percent more than last year, 958 tourists from Africa (0.1 percent), or 82 percent more than last year, 5,947 tourists fron other countries (0,4 percent) or 245 percent more than last year.
Most tourists from CIS countries fell to Azerbaijan. Thus, about 376,327 tourists arrived from Azerbaijan to Georgia, or 46 percent more than last year.
