General Motors and Uzavtoprom JSC plan to create JV

Uzavtoprom JSC and the American General Motors plan to create a joint venture to manufacture transmissions for passenger cars, a government source told Trend.
According to preliminary agreements, the new venture will be producing transmissions and other powertrain assemblies for passenger cars manufactured at the Uzbekistan GM JV (former UzDaewooAuto JSC, Asaka, Andijan region), the same source said.

Currently, a feasibility study is prepared and the sources of its funding are determined. According to preliminary calculations, the design value of the venture will be about $300 million with an annual capacity of 250,000 transmissions.
The source did not mention the periods of creating the joint venture and implementing the project. The source said if all conditions are agreed by the end of the year, the JV can be created in the first half of 2012.
Currently there are two joint ventures in Uzbekistan with the participation of General Motors.
