The Turkmen Food Industry Association plans to commission a series of new meat-packing and milk plants, and livestock and poultry farms, the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper reported. In addition, the country will launch a poultry construction in the Serdar etrap in the Balkan region and in the Karabekaul etrap in the Lebap region in 2011.

"The food industry's prospects are promising. There are plans to ensure a sustainable development program of the industry in the future, in accordance with the 'National Program for socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030', as well as to increase supplies of domestic products in world markets", the article said.

Today, the association's enterprises produce more than 400 types of products. Moreover, the production of more than 150 species was arranged in recent years.

The matter is Turkmen sugar, baby food, fruit juices, assorted cheeses, fruit yogurt, mayonnaise, ketchup, canned fruit, vegetable products, and other products.

The number of new products is constantly growing and production is improving. The enterprises manufactured 21 types of new products in the first half of 2011.

Work is underway on launching a new capacity, increasing capacity for processing agricultural raw foods and product quality, as well as increasing worker productivity with the aim of further developing the industry's production.

The Akhal oil plant in the Akhal region and the Sumbar plant are among the major facilities producting drinking water in the Balkan region. These and other major facilities have become operational in recent years.

Certain progress has been achieved to provide sugar to the Turkmen population. The Marysheker plant ensures the production of sugar beets on a contractual basis with the farmers of the Mary province. The Turkmen sugar-beet growers intend to collect 185,000 tons of sugar beet in 2011. Sugar production is scheduled to increase to 115 percent.

The sugar plants of the companies Ruhubelent, Altyn Hulk, Marysheker, and the Korpe company are producers of baby food. The Archabil plant produces drinking water, the Akhal oil plant and Wineries in Ashgabat, Abadan, Geoktepe and others, are the the leading manufacturing enterprises on the Turkmen market.
