Index of Georgia's foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries is growing again. As the Georgian Statistics Committee (Gruzstat) told Trend, index of foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries amounted to 1.641 billion in January-July 2011 (42 percent more than in January-July 2010).
Exports hit $574 million (a 67-percent increase), while imports - 1.067 billion (a 31-percent increase). The share of the CIS countries in Georgia's total foreign trade turnover constitutes 34 percent, while 48 percent in exports and 29 percent in imports (in 2010, respectively 22, 40 and 30 percent).
Some 20 percent of the trade deficit accounted for the CIS countries accounted (in 2010 - 26 percent). In January-July 2011, Georgia's foreign trade turnover totaled 4.832 billion, increasing by 36 percent compared to the same period of last year.
