Tajikistan's external debt amounted to $2.124 million at the beginning of 2012, increasing by$181.5 million compared to the beginning of 2011, Avesta.tj reported on Monday.
The external debt made up 33.2 percent of the country's GDP.
Tajikistan's major creditors are financial institutions, such as Exim Bank of China, the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Islamic Development Bank (IBD), and the European Union (EU).
Tajikistan's debt to Uzbekistan hit $27.66 million and it is scheduled to be paid of by the end of
2015.
