Uzbek president discusses implementation of gas projects with LUKOIL head

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of JSC LUKOIL Oil Vagit Alekperov discussed the work being done by JSC LUKOIL in Uzbekistan and in particular, conducting exploration work and development of hydrocarbon fields in a number of investment units, as well as the course of construction of a new gas processing plant in the Bukhara region, Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported.

During the meeting President Karimov stressed that effective conduct of exploration operations enables JSC LUKOIL to ensure the growth of hydrocarbon reserves on the Kandym group of the Khauzak-Shady fields situated in the Gissar region and Kungrad sections and as part of a consortium of investors in the Uzbek part of the Aral Sea.

It was noted that the direct investments by JSC LUKOIL in the oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan on the three investment projects have already exceeded $2 billion. In general, in the period of implementation of all projects with the participation of the LUKOIL Company, it is planned to attract more than $5 billion in investments.

Uzbekistan's interest in the development of the deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials with the production of products with high added value was also stressed.

Alekperov expressed his sincere gratitude to President Karimov for the warm reception and appreciation of JSC LUKOIL's activity in the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan, as well as for providing favourable conditions for the implementation of mutually beneficial large scale projects. The guest stressed his company's readiness to continue long term and fruitful cooperation with the Uzbek partners.
